I made Lentils and Rice for dinner tonight, and put his in the blender so they were nice and smooth and creamy/yummy.  Aren't I a good wife?  I think that I am so good that I deserve one of those things pictured above too!  Mmmmm.

Thank you for all of the comments and feedback about the teacher conference.  I should explain though, that it was OK....not great, just OK.  I was so worried that she was gonna blow at any moment (or that her head was going to start spinning around whilst she spewed profanities at us) that we didn't really get anything resolved.  I do think that she is on notice that the yelling/namecalling during class is not appropriate and that if I hear of it again...I'll be back!  

I don't understand why someone who clearly does not enjoy teaching - or kids - is doing it for a living.  

Whew.  OK.  Enough of that.

This is great practice for life, when inevitably he will have to work with annoying co-workers or a boss who is a major jerk.  Learning to deal with people like this is a great life lesson.

Speaking of great life lessons - another thing that he is doing right now is learning how to make a resume and how to interview.  He has been practicing his interview handshake and introduction on us.  This is for his Introduction to Business Technology class.  First, the kids are interviewed by the teacher in front of the class...."Tell me a little bit about yourself"..."Describe yourself in three words", etc.  Then in a couple of weeks the kids will come to school in business attire and go to the conference room to be interviewed by local business leaders.  Isn't that great?  Personally, I think every high school student should have to take that class and learn those skills!

Briefly....

This is going to have to be just a super-fast, brief update as I have about three million things to do today.  OK, OK, maybe I exaggerate slightly (but not too much!!)

First, may I just say TGIF ??  Really.  I am SO glad it is (finally) the weekend.  

So here is what is going on today and this weekend:

*This morning I am driving Tim out to Mayo Clinic to have a "procedure" done.  I don't want to go into too much detail, but it's one of those things men are supposed to have done after they turn 50.  Which involves some "prep" work the day before.  Are ya with me?  Poor Tim.

*Tomorrow morning Clay's taekwondo team is having a car wash to raise money for the state and national competitions which are coming up.  So all you local people - Bring your cars to the McDonald's on Hwy. 17 between 9-12.  Please.

*Paige has a dance lesson to work on her solo for their first dance competition, which is coming up in a couple of weeks.

*Clay has a party to go to tomorrow night.

*Church Sunday morning - Paige is reading, Clay is ushering.

* Clay has another party thing Sunday afternoon.

*Youth group Sunday evening.

Also somewhere in there, I need to go to the grocery store, clean the house, do laundry, have Clay clean the bird cage and the turtle tank, put Advantage on the cats, go over Paige's work from this week, register Clay for Happening (a church thing for high schoolers), go through the kid's closets for outgrown clothes, and.....oh good grief.  I'm exhausted just thinking about all that so I'm going to stop there.

The one where her head almost spun around

Whew.

The conference is over.  It went OK. I guess.  Basically, Tim and I played "good cop/bad cop"....The teacher's head didn't spin around.  But, I think it wanted to.  Highly defensive.  On the attack.  

Let's just say that I do NOT have a hard time believing what I have heard about how she behaves to the children in the classroom.

Oh well.  At least it is over, and hopefully she will be on her best behavior from now on.  

One good thing did happen in the conference - Clay's counselor gave him a little pep talk about college and what he needs to do to get there (be consistent with the grades!)  I am hoping my boy is motivated to put forth a little more effort.

Last night, whilst I was lying in bed with an ice pack on my head feeling miserable, I was perusing a couple of old People magazines (courtesy of my mom) and came across this photo.

Look at that!  Harry Connick, Jr. and Jon Bon Jovi in the same pic.  The only thing that could make that photo better would be Orlando Bloom in the the blonde wig all dressed up as Legolas.  But, I guess that wouldn't really fit with a Grammy's photo, would it?
