After receiving a few messages from people wanting to know if everything was OK since I haven't posted on my blog in a while, I realized that I've been slacking. Yes, that's what it took. I can't believe I haven't posted anything in almost a week.
Thank you for checking on me. Everything is fine. No one is sick. There's no drama.
I COULD write about how incredibly busy I've been. It's true. It has been a crazy week. There has been a lot of running around and we've had plumbers installing faucets and sinks and tile guys cutting the tile around the sink that wouldn't fit (Don't ask!). It was my week to drive carpool too, which means that I spent a lot of time in the car driving teenagers to and from that wonderful performing arts school The Princess attends. The wonderful school which entails a 45 minute to an hour drive, each way. I could also tell you about the laundry and the doctors appointments and all of the other various and sundry things which happened this week.
But the truth is that all of that craziness and running around is normal. It's always like that...and I still usually manage a few posts a week.
But since I always try to be truthful on this blog, I'm going to tell you the truth.
The truth is I haven't felt like blogging this week. I've been distracted. You see, Mr. Wonderful let me have my Christmas present early and it wasn't the new sink and faucet...
It was this!!
And so, if I'm being honest, I have to tell you that I haven't actually even THOUGHT about blogging this week. I've been playing with my new, fabulous, amazing toy. I've been getting to know Siri...
Sometimes Siri is amazingly helpful...
And sometimes she has a bit of an attitude.
But she is always entertaining.
I have also been listening to my favorite radio station.
And I've been playing Scrabble and listening to Pandora Radio and entering contacts and downloading apps.
To put this all in perspective for you, this was my old phone:
I could make calls and I could text with it.
I couldn't watch videos or check the weather in Paris or play PacMan or listen to KBCO in Colorado.
I couldn't talk to it and ask it the meaning of life.
I've never had a smartphone before. While the rest of the world was happily enjoying 21st century technology, I was trying to figure out how to text my teenagers back on my "stone age cell phone", as the kids called it.
But now I am no longer obsolete, y'all! Now I can be glued to my iphone like the rest of the world! I can twitter and text and facebook from anywhere. And if I don't know how to do something, I'll just ask Siri. She'll know.
And yes, I think I can even blog from my iphone. So, I suppose I'll never be able to use this excuse again...But for now, for today, I'm using it. I've been getting acquainted with not just Siri, but with the 21st century - and that takes a little bit of time!
I'm feeling quite proud of myself today. The kids were gone yesterday morning taking the SAT exam and I accomplished a lot. A really, whole-lotta-lot.
My butt barely left the chair in front of the computer all morning but I managed to finish up (almost all) the Christmas shopping. I did research on a few other things and I also got a screaming good deal on a rental car for the holidays by using the "name your own price" feature at Priceline. I put in an extremely low price thinking that I could slowly raise it. And a rental car company accepted it! In about 30 seconds! Yay me!
I also, finally, finished folding the humongous piles of laundry which have been reproducing like mad while my back was turned. I totally kicked the laundry's butt yesterday. Of course, while I was subduing the horrible beast that was my laundry pile, another horrible beast of dirty clothes was accumulating in the kid's rooms. But I don't want to think about that today. I'll think about it tomorrow...
I've also been busily working on some other projects, which I can't talk about on the blog because certain people who may possibly be the recipient of said projects might read this. But I've made a lot of progress.
I've been making lists and checking things off the lists. It's a good feeling. I'm feeling just slightly smug about all I managed to accomplish yesterday. Of course, there is still a ton of stuff to be done in the next two weeks. But I don't want to think about either. I'll think about it tomorrow...
The good news is that the Christmas cards arrived and I spent all day yesterday addressing envelopes and running to the post office and getting them mailed. So THAT item is checked off the ol' list...and that is a good feeling!
The bad news is that because I have spent so much time on cyber shopping and ordering the cards and addressing and mailing the cards, there are mountains of laundry threatening to take over my house. There are piles on the couch waiting to be folded, and piles of folded laundry waiting to be put away, and clothes in the dryer also waiting to be folded and dirty clothes in the laundry room waiting to be washed. How can one family create so much laundry?
The good news is that I also made it to Publix yesterday, since our cupboards were bare. The kids were very happy that there is food in the house again.
The bad news is that when I came out of Publix with my cart full of food, I found a huge scrape down the front/side bumper of my car. Apparently, some idiotic moron decided to try to pull ahead and drive through the spot next to me rather than backing up out of their parking spot. Apparently, they didn't quite make it. Apparently, their Christmas spirit didn't extend to leaving a note of apology - much less offering to pay for the damage they inflicted on my poor little hybrid. Bah Humbug!
The good news is that I bought all the ingredients to make the dinner the kids have been requesting - Rigatoni with steak sauce.
But the bad news is that I have absolutely no interest in cooking right now. None, nada, zip. Maybe the kids could follow the recipe and make it themselves? Hmmm.....
The good news is that I am finally going to get a new kitchen sink and faucet.
The bad news is that the old faucet is leaking. And the old faucet doesn't want to turn off. And the old faucet really isn't all that old. And that the money for the new sink and faucet are coming from the Christmas budget. Which means my Christmas present is a new sink and faucet. Oh goodie...just what I wanted.
And that's all for today. It's been chilly here and the kids were worried about Lucy getting cold...
I spied The Princess's camera this morning and decided to take a peek at her pictures...
Every morning while we were indulging in our anti-Thanksgiving escape from reality getaway, the kids went for a long walk. They were gone over an hour each morning. I thought it was so sweet...that they were bonding and being sisterly/brotherly.
It appears that their excursions were actually cleverly disguised fishing trips for The Boy and that The Princess may have been a wee bit bored whilst he was casting and concentrating on the fish. But I'll let you be the judge.....
I think The Princess is a good sport. I also think it's a good thing that she can keep herself entertained!
