ATTACK!

Click here to see the video of Clay's first fight at the competition last Saturday.  A BIG thank you to Cathy Davis for putting this together with the perfect music!

Jack's Lullaby

Paige wrote this "lullaby" for Jack.  It is sung to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star".

Little Jack-Jack, you are mean!
You attack me when I sleep
Like a possessed cat you are
You attack my hair and arms

Little Jack-Jack, you are mean!
Your innocent looks
Make me want to scream

EEEEEEKKKK!!!!

You all know about my roach phobia aversion.  I have written about it before here and here.

So you can imagine my horror just now when I opened the dryer door and saw a huge, scary, blood sucking, carnivorous roach sitting in the lint filter!  Eeeekkk!  I shrieked calmly, and in a very mature manner asked Paige to bring the roach spray.  Paige screamed, shrieked, calmly, and in a very mature manner retrieved it for me and then when I threatened her asked her in a calm, mature manner to kill the roach, she agreed.  In a calm, mature manner - there wasn't much any jumping around or strident shrieking at all...

She aims...she fires!

Paige...she fears no roach.  At least, not much.

She's pretty proud of herself, too!

Eeewww....gross!  Go away you creepy, nasty, scary creature!

Die you hideous creature, DIE!!

Paige rocks.
She is awesome, amazing, fearless and brave.

This entire ordeal event was handled very calmly and maturely by both us.
That's our story, and we're sticking with it.

Spies, Manatees, and a clean house...

There was a showing on our house yesterday morning...since our realtor is out of town, this meant that we had to be on hand to open the house up for the realtor.

The people viewing our home were here for an hour and a half.

The kids and I (and Lucy) drove around in the car for a bit.  We drove past the house and saw that the people were still there.  We drove around a bit more.  We parked and read our books.
The kids texted their friends.  Then Clay decided he wanted to do "recon" and see what the people were doing.  He wanted to spy.

On the pretext of walking Lucy, he surreptitiously looked...

And listened...but it was too difficult with Lucy.  She kept pulling at him trying to go home.  She KNEW that was her driveway and she wanted a drink and a nap - in that order.

Clay ditched the dog and practiced his "spy moves"...

Paige decided to try a few "spy moves" herself.

I sat in the car wishing the people would hurry up because I REALLY, REALLY needed to pee.

TMI?  Sorry.

Although the "recon" maneuvers  were very impressive, the kids didn't actually get any information.

After an hour and a half the people left, I raced into the house to use the bathroom, Clay raced into the kitchen to eat (a teenage boy cannot really go that long without sustenance), and Paige went back to her book.

That was the excitement for the day - after that, Clay studied for his exams and Paige and I read our books.  We worked hard yesterday morning cleaning...I think we deserved an afternoon off!

So far, the house is still clean.  THAT is a miracle.

I was up at "O-dark-thirty" again this morning.  I was sipping my coffee and looking out our bedroom window when I saw this...

There were four manatees eating breakfast and enjoying the sunrise and the placid, calm (warm) water...

Clay and I have decided that while it is really nice to wake up to a nice sunrise and a family of manatees...we'd really rather be sleeping.

*Sigh*  Only two more days...

Do you want the good news or the bad news?

Good News:  When we got home last night, I had a call from a realtor who would like to show our house today.

Bad News:  I was up all night making mental lists of everything I need to get done today, and woke up at 6:15 AM (on my one day to sleep in!!) STILL thinking about all the things I need to do today!

Good News:  Even though my stupid camera and I missed the fabulous shot of Clay's back kick to the face yesterday, the guy next to me got a GREAT shot of it and said he'd email it to me.

Bad News:  He hasn't sent it yet.

Good News:  It's only 7:41 AM and I have already done a load of laundry, wiped down all the kitchen cabinets and windowsills, cleaned and bleached the kitchen trash can, had my coffee, put the "nice" towels in the bathroom, cleaned the bathroom, had another cup of coffee, and made the bed.

Bad News:  I'm tired.  And I really, really, really wanted to sleep late today!

Good News:  I'm blogging...

Bad News:  I'm procrastinating...
