I've been neglecting this blog terribly the past few days. Honestly, it's been crazy around here...
~ The Boy started school on Tuesday, which means that I have been filling out oodles and oodles of forms and paperwork. He also, finally, has a supply list for each class. (Why can't they get these lists out to us before the first day of school? Why?) I have been trying to pick up generic supplies here and there the past few weeks, but naturally I didn't get the right type or size of binders or pens. I didn't get the composition book of graph paper or a flash drive (needed in two classes) either. So after filling out the humongous pile of forms, I took a trip to Staples to spend a ridiculous amount of money on binders and highlighters and graph paper.
The Boy seems to really like all his teachers though, especially his AP teachers. He is very enthusiastic about school...so far...I just hope it lasts!
Working on homework....
~The Princess had orientation at her new school on Tuesday. As all of the students and parents were being seated in the theatre we were treated to a beautiful piano performance by one of the students. As we traipsed through the hallways looking for The Princess's classrooms, we saw student's artwork hanging everywhere...
We found more student art hiding in a stairwell...
The Princess has her lockers and her textbooks and her classes. She is very excited about being in high school and being able to dance at school. (She is attending one of the top performing arts schools in the nation.) She can't wait to make new friends and improve her art.
(FYI: The Princess's mom is a bit less enthusiastic about her baby girl being in high school. She is still in denial.)
After walking through the school and sweating like crazy, I was still hopelessly lost and peering in confusion at the little map the school provided. The Princess beamed cheerfully and claimed that she had it all figured out...I hope she's right! We climbed gratefully in the car and turned on the air conditioner full blast and then went to stock up on tights and leotards and jet glue and hairnets (an entirely different type of school supplies!)
In addition...
~The Princess is getting her hair cut this afternoon. She's getting an "almost 15 and starting high school" new, more adult look. (Don't worry, I'll take pictures!)
~Jack has been particularly strange and demanding the past few days. I think he's lost his mind. He walks through the house meowing his pathetic, wimpy, high pitched chirrup of a meow as he begs for attention from someone...anyone! He sleeps like this...
And he thinks he is the most awesome cat in the universe and cannot understand why we don't all worship the ground he walks on and feed him constantly.
~Because of The Boy's school starting on Tuesday, we are back to the most ridiculous school hours for teenagers EVER and thus are once again awake every morning for the sunrise.
Yeah, yeah...it's beautiful and all, blah blah blah...but honestly? I'd rather be sleeping.
