On your toes, girl!

Today was all about the Princess...first we (she) went to the doctor for a checkup, and to get the flu-mist vaccine...
where she was kind enough to cooperate with the pesky papparazzi and model the latest in pediatrician visit attire...

After that, we made the trek to the dance store so she could be fitted, again, for new pointe shoes.  You see, every time she needs new shoes her feet seem to have changed.  Or her arch, or something...but the bottom line is that we have to go through fitting her again every couple of months...
There is a process to the fitting...

First she puts in her lamb's wool inserts and then tries on the first pair...

She goes en pointe...

And then decides if the first pair is flexible enough, or not flexible enough...

Or if there is enough arch support...or too much arch support...

Can she get over the box easily?

Are they too tight?  Is the vamp deep enough, or too shallow?

There are all sorts of words thrown around which mean nothing to me, but which my daughter understands perfectly...vamp, shank, rounded vs. tapered, different maker's marks...

She tries on dozens before, eventually (after an hour and a half!) deciding on one which...she thinks...will work for her.

For now.

At least until next month - when we will have to repeat this entire process all over again.
