Pumpkin guts, ghosts and a fashion show too!

Yesterday was a fun, crafty day spent with good friends...with lots of laughter!  The kids and I ran some errands in the morning and then stopped at the pumpkin patch to get some pumpkins...

It's been a few years since we've done the pumpkin patch thing so I was pleasantly surprised to find cool white and green pumpkins, but a bit distressed at how expensive the pumpkins were - $20 for 4 pumpkins?  Really?!

The 'S' Family came over that afternoon to help us carve them...

The older kids had a "pumpkin guts" fight, which created a huge mess - but I'm happy to report that they DID clean it up!
The eagles kept us company...
and we watched the Blue Angels as they flew by...
Everyone took a break and went to rummage through the old Halloween costumes...

C tried a few of them on...

And we were all quite amused by his fashion show.
After the kids finished the jack-o-lanterns - and finished cleaning the pumpkin guts from every conceivable surface - we all let our inner Martha Stewart out and created ghosts out of cheesecloth and liquid starch...
We had a great day!

As Mrs. S and I sat in the chairs on the bulkhead supervising the carving process and trying to keep the pumpkin guts from flying in our direction and trying to spot the Blue Angels, we reminisced about all the interesting sights we have seen from that bulkhead over the years...huge thunderstorms across the lake in Fleming Island, a runaway boat in the middle of the lake with the sherriff's boat and coast guard helicopter circling it, a dock on fire, a boat on fire, a tornado (!), numerous July 4th fireworks, Christmas boat parades, manatees, alligators, eagles...and the Blue Angels!
