The day started with an hour and a half drive to Port Orange, south Of Daytona Beach...
Which is always exciting and fun...
After driving an hour and a half to take him to his competition, Clay decided to cop a major teenage attitude with me.
I was not amused.
It's hard to maintain that "holier than thou" attitude when you realize you have left both your belt and your headgear (helmet) and have to borrow from someone else. (Even though your parents have reminded you to make sure you have everything SEVERAL times!!)
Clay and Dominic wait to do forms
Clay appears bored.
Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that it was 300 bazillion degrees in the gym.
Mrs. Jones giving some last minute advice...
Apparently, it would KILL him to smile at me.
Stiiiilllll waiting in the hotttt gym to do forms...
Whoa. That's a BIG kid. Hope he doesn't have to fight him!
His form lacked "pizzazz".
We'll blame it on the heat.
Yeah, it's the heat's fault.
Third place. Not too bad.
Considering.
It's STILL 300 bazillion degrees in the gym, and now Clay has to fight.
Mouthpiece?
Check!
Shaking off the jitters....time to kick some butt.
Bowing...
Checking...
GO!
(Clay is in blue)
Yeah, you SHOULD be scared...
Coach Clay gives Clay a pep talk...
Round Two...
Ugh...this stupid camera...
I missed the best shot of all - the back kick to the head...
Which gave Clay the extra two points to win it!
First and second place came down to two Team Mudo athletes, and friends...Clay and Dominic.
Gold (1st) - Dominic
Silver (2nd) - Clay
Go Team Mudo!!
Next stop: National Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
